KKR register their first win in IPL4

KKR open their account:

The new look Kolkata Knight Riderss went past Deccan Chargers at the Eden Gardens to register their first victory in IPL 2011. In reply to KKR's 163, Deccan managed to score only 154 at the loss of eight wickets. For KKR, Abdulla took 3 wickets while Unandkat and Bhatia took 2 each.

Christian falls after violent cameo:

Dan Christian fell but only after threatening to take the match away from the KKR. He was caught at the long on of the bowling of the impressive young left-arm spinner Iqbal Abdulla. His 13 ball 25 was laced with two sixes and a boundary.

Soon after Christian's dismissal, Ravi Teja too followed suit after trying to heave one into the galleries and was caught by Jacques Kallis. He made 15 in 10 balls laced with a six and a boundary.

Kallis' sticky palms:

What has Kallis got into his hands tonight, almost every catch goes to him, Chipli departs after a well made 48. Deccan are half-down, Kallis takes his third catch of the match and Chipli falls short of a well-deserved half-century.

Kallis returns favour, Duminy departs:

J P Duminy was caught by Kallis while attempting to clear the boundary of Iqbal Abdulla. It is getting disastrous for Deccan as they are four down with less than half the target on board and with only 7.4 overs left.

Sanga goes:

Sangakkara is gone caught by Kallis of Bhatia. He made 16 of 15 balls. Duminy is in and a lot depends on him if DC hope to make a match out of it.

Inauspicious start:

The Chargers were off to an inauspicious start after losing both their openers. They almost lost a third one in the form of Chipli but were lucky due to a collusion between Doeschate and Bhatia that resulted in the catch being split over.

Deccan need 164:

Riding on some useful contributions of the ever-reliable duo of Jacques Kallis and Gautam Gambhir and some useful cameos by Manoj Tiwary and Yousuf Pathan, Kolkata Knight Riders have set Deccan Chargers a target of 164 to win the match. Pathan who came at the fall of Gambhir's wicket made 22 of 15 balls before getting out in the final delivery of thhe KKR innings. Tiwary hit two sixes and two boundaries to make 30 of 21 balls.

Mishra wins the battle of Delhites at Eden:

Gautam Gambhir was removed by his Delhi Ranji team-mate Amit Mishra. The leg-spinner cleaned up the KKR Skipper's furniture and in walks Yousuf Pathan..

Tiwary sends Duminy into the empty stands:

Manoj Tiwary took a special liking to J P Duminy and posted him twice to the empty stands of the Eden Gardens. With five more overs left and the likes of Pathan and Doeschate still to come, how much can KKR score?

Duminy halts Kallis charge:

J P Duminy removed his South African team-mate in the KKR squad, Jacques Kallis. Meanwhile, the Eden Gardens is almost empty. What Steyn couuldn't do, Duminy did!!

Vacant Eden:

Eden Garden's is almost empty, is that the Sourav effect? Hopefully, it isn't, else KKR would be up for a tough time to muster support for their team. And Lalit Modi and Harsha Bhogle, on Twitter have noticed the vacancy at the Eden Gardens. Meanwhile, Amit Mishra trapped Manavindra Bisla LBW and in walked Gautam Gambhir, the man who replaced Ganguly at the KKR!!

Kallis' Steyn test:

Jacques Kallis saw off the first over from his South African team-mate and lethal fast bowler Dale Steyn with relative ease as he managed to score two boundaries easily. And that apart, Ishant Sharma, also dropped a sitter offered by Bisla of Steyn's bowling leaving the quickie a frustrated figure.

Playing XI:
