There was drama straight away in the first over. Virender Sehwag smashed Shaun Tait for a four only to be caught at slip in the very next ball. The Daredevils were 5/1 in 0.3 overs with the surviving opener David Warner and Aaron Finch at the crease. In the 3rd over, Warner got off-break Johan Botha past the infield and ran three, before Finch hammered the same bowler for a six to round off the over at 16/1.
Then Warner pulled Siddharth Trivedi away for a four backward of square leg and in the 5th over Finch shoved a short delivery from Tait over midwicket for another boundary. But later in the over, the batsman was caught at mid on by Botha, for 11 off 14, as Delhi slipped to 29/2 in 4.5. overs. Amit Singh followed up with a maiden to new batsman Unmukt Chand.
Shane Warne came onto bowl in the 8th over and had Chand caught at slip first ball with Delhi in some trouble at 36/3. But the surprises didn't end there. Two balls later, Naman Ojha was caught by Tait for a duck and Delhi had slumped to 36/4 in 7.3 overs. In the 11th over, Venugopal Rao deposited Botha over midiwkcet for a six to bring up the Daredevils' 50. Then Venu took 8 runs off Warne in the next over, including a sweep shot for four.
By the end of the 14th over, Delhi had climbed to 76/4. In the next over, Warner and Venu teamed up to knock a four and six off Botha as the scored moved onto 89/4. Then Wraner cut loose, carting Tait away for a four, a six and two ball slater, another four to bring up the Daredvils 100. In the following over, Warner took a four off Warne to notch up 50.
Then in the 18th over, Amit Singh ensured that Warner played his last shot when he skied a ball into the hands of Raut. But Venu, who had hit a four eaerlier in tge over repeated the shot as Delhi moved o 123/5 in 18 overs. Venu brought up his 50 in belligerent fashion, carting Trivedi for a six and followed it up with another maximum.
Then Irfan Pathan knocked two fours off Tait in the last over to take the Daredevils to 151/6 in 20 overs.
