It seems the debutante team in the League was offering him a better pay packet that the pittance he was being handed by RCB. So now after all the commotion, where is the young man? He doesn't appear to have taken his place in the Warriors line-up as yet. Neither has he been seen shuttling bottles of water and drinks?
Well, just in case it has slipped the memory of fans, Pandey is serving a four-match ban imposed by the IPL governing council. Why? Being an uncapped player, his transfer from Bangalore to Pune was pulled off without the consent of his former bosses or the IPL governing council, resulting in the latter imposing the punitive ban on him.
Just to remind readers, Pandey was the first centurion ever produced by IPL. With that feat he had clearly etched his name in IPL's hall of fame, but was inexplicable held back from entering his name in the players auction earlier this year. It seems his uncapped status. i.e. the fact that he had not played for Team India as yet, didn't warrant him a shot at being bid for. A sour Pandey felt betrayed by his team owner Vijay Mallya and therefore left RCB in a huff.
While it is clear Bangalore is sorely missing his destructive exploits, Pune would be ready to welcome him into their line-up once he becomes eligible to play...
