SLC rejects BCCI plea over players

That's because the Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) board has rejected the Board for Control of Cricket in India's (BCCI) plea to let the players stay on for a few more days prior to their departure for the tour of England.

SLC officials who met their counterparts from the BCCI in Mumbai were adamant that the Lankan players return home for a week-long training camp before embarking for Ole Blighty.

Hence, the Lankan players who are captaining sides will have to be replaced by other international senior players. Speculation is rife that Kolkata Knightriders' discard Sourav Ganguly will fill the shoes off Kochi Tuskers Kerala skipper Mahela Jayawardene and Cameron White will take over from Deccan Chargers captain Kumar Sangakkara, while West Indies opener Chris Gayle will replace Tillakaratne Dilshan in the Royal Challengers Bangalore top order.
