The Daredevils will have to be wary of the carnage meted out by the Kings to the RR and will have to guard against being slam-banged all across the park. After all, Paul Valthaty and Adam Gilchrist, bludgeoned their way to 67 for the first wicket off a mere 4.2 overs, setting the foundation for Shaun Marsh to then bully the Royals' bowlers and launch out to a big total. In so doing, the Kings XI top order spiked RR's biggest gun in Siddhart Trivedi who went for 49 off his 4 overs and who could well become a bench-warmer for his side's next match.
The Kings XI attack has also showed that it is a force to reckon with paceman Praveen Kumar and Bharghav Bhatt each scalping two Royals' wickets while maintaining relatively tidy figures with economy rates of around 6. Such a performance doesn't bode well for the Daredevils whose batting has fallen away more often than they could afford. The showing of Naman Ojha and Aaron Finch is a worry at the top of the order as both have come up with low scores on more than one occasion, while captain Virender Sehwag is also having a poor season with a high of 37.
In their last match which was against a resurgent Deccan Chargers, the Daredevils bowling showed that it is less than intimidating. Though four of the six bowlers used picked up a wicket, they all went for over 7 runs an over. Ashok Dinda however, showed marked improvement from his outing against Pune Warriors where he bowled very poorly at the death, going for 26 runs in his last over. But he needs a good show from Irfan Pathan as the other seamer to support him in his cause.
