Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Delhi got off to another unsteady start. In the second over, Sreesanth got through the defences off David Warner for 3 off 7 balls and three balls later, trapped Naman Ojha in front for a duck, both balls keeping ridiculously low. The Daredevils were 4/2 in 1.4 overs with Venugopal Rao joining surviving opener and captain Virender Sehwag.
Sehwag then counter-attacked in characteristic fashion, smashing a four each off R P Singh and Sreesanth and unleashing a couple of boundary blows off Singh again, in the 5th over as the Daredevils partially recovered to 31/2. But just over one over later, Ravindra Jadeja got Venugopal out lbw for 1 off 10 balls as the Daredevils slipped to 35/3 in 6.2 overs.
With Abhishek Nagar for company, Sehwag took a single of Jadeja to bring up the Daredevils 50 in the 11th over. Then in the 13th over, Sehwag smashed Jadeja for a couple of sixes as the score ticked onto 75/3. The the batsman went after Vinay Kumar, clobbering him for a six and a four. But then two balls later, Yogesh Nagar was run out with the score at 94/4 in 15.5 overs.
However, Sehwag wouldn't relent. He smashed Balachandra Akhil for a six and two fours to take the Daredevils past 100 and then subjected Romesh Powar to similar treatment.
Then Travis Birt got into the act, hitting two fours off Vinay Kumar before Sehwag was caught at long off off the same bowler for 80 off 47 balls. Birt rounded off the over with a six which was followed by another maximum from Irfan Pathan in the 19th over.
Almost immediately however, Birt was out caught off Powar at mid wicket for 20 off 13 balls. In the final over, R P Sinh bowled 4 leg-byes and conceded a four to Pathan as the Daredevils wrapped up their innings at 158/6 in 20 overs.
