Kingston, June 18: Premier West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle remains out of contention for the Test series against India due to an inconclusive meeting with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). Meanwhile, Adrian Barath comes in place of Barbados opener Kraigg Brathwaite while Dwayne Bravo was also kept out of the side.
Bravo had forgone playing in the Test series against Pakistan last month, after playing the ODIs, to play in the Indian Premier League. He rejoined for the one-day series against India and played the first two games before being rested for the remaining three. Apart from Bravo, allrounder Andre Russell who impressed during the one-dayers against India, also found himself out of the squad.
However, veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who missed the second Test against Pakistan because of injury and was omitted from the limited-overs matches against India, was included in the squad.
Barath had suffered a hamstring injury just prior to the onset of the 2011 World Cup and had been out of action since. He made his come-back in the final ODI against India at Sabina Park. The first Test against India begins on June 20.
Squad: Darren Sammy (capt), Brendan Nash, Adrian Barath, Carlton Baugh (wk), Devendra Bishoo, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Lendl Simmons.
