Kingston, June 9: It seems the hosts might just be putting the visiting Indian side at a disadvantage, even before the first Test against the West Indies gets underway. India Coach Duncan Fletcher is livid with the ground staff of Sabina Park for palming off an alleged sub-standard pitch for his team to practice on.
The 63-year-old Zimbabwean was spotted by cameras engaging in a fiery exchange with the curator's subsidiaries. According to sources, he is likely to take up the matter with higher authorities and even lodge an official complaint if need be.
Though, Fletcher hasn't expressed his displeasure to the media as yet, sources believe he is grossly dissatisfied with nature of the pitch as it is keeping the ball low and slow. Such a trait stands in start contrast to the wicket prepared for the actual Test, which is expected to favour bounce.
And considering that India lost its last one-day game on that very strip, they would need to acclimatise to its bouncy conditions before going into the first Test, beginning on Monday.
