BCCI finally agrees to DRS

Hong Kong, June 27: The contentious debate surrounding the implementation of the Decision Review System (DRS) has finally been sorted out with the BCCI doing a volte face on its earlier stance against the technology to refer suspect decisions to the third umpire.

After hours of deliberation at the ICC's annual conference at Hong Kong, the Indian board  agreed to the DRS's use in bilateral series on the basis of the ICC agreement to a caveat: that the hotspot and snickometre be introduced as well, in order to make the system completely foolproof.

In all probability, the DRS will feature in India's upcoming tour of England, although there is no telling as yet whether the entire system will be in place for the Tests and ODIs to follow.

The final approval and passing of the decision will be made by the ICC's executive board on Tuesday, June 28.
