Derby, July 4: It's not only male cricket bowlers that get into hot water over illegal bowling actions. The Indian national women's team has also thrown up such an oddity. Pacewoman Snehal Pradhan was reported to be bowling with a suspect illicit action in a one-day match against England at Derby last Thursday.
Pradhan bowled 6 overs for 25 runs in the match which the hosts went on to win by 6 wickets, after India scored 202/9 in their 50 overs. The Indian women's team is currently playing in a four-nations one-day tournament in England.
Umpires Jeff Evans and Graham Lloyd reported Ms Pradhan to match referee David Jukes. According to ICC regulations, Pradhan will have to appear before an independent committee that will formerly investigate her action, If the group finds out that she is in fact chucking, then she will be obliged to take remedial action before she becomes available for selection again.
Pradhan has taken 5 wickets from 6 one-day matches with a best of 3/21 and an economy rate of 3.80.
