Ravi Shastri summoned by ED

Mumbai, July 21: Former cricketer and present commentator Ravi Shastri has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in the Indian Premier League (IPL) case involving its former commissioner Lalit Modi and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Senior ED officials in Mumbai confirmed to a leading Indian news channel that summons were faxed to the former Indian captain asking him to appear before it next week.

ED officials said apart from Shastri, former Indian captains Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and Sunil Gavaskar belonged to the eight-member governing council headed by ousted IPL chairman Modi.

It was this governing council which took all key decisions of the first three editions of the IPL series. Sources said that the three former cricketers received Rs 1 crore each annually for their services.
