Aug 6: India left-arm pacer and spearhead Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of playing international cricket for the next four months. The shocking news which has just been broken by the Indian team management today, means that Zaheer will play no part in the crucial third and fourth Tests against England and may even miss out on subsequent tours and home series.
Zak who had been nursing and rehabilitating his hamstring injury by the intense regimen that he was following, only succeeded in exacerbating the nature of his strain.
Though Zaheer had a fantastic World Cup earlier this year, grabbing a haul of 21 wickets and played in the subsequent Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he stayed out of the Caribbean tour and bowled all of 11.3 overs on the first day of the first Test against England, before he pulled up with a sore hamstring and hobbled off the field.
He sat out the second Test and then this weekend tried to return to the 22 yards by bowling a brief but non-incisive spell against English second division side Northampton.
There has been no word as yet on who will replace the veteran speedster. But with India's bowling woes a big concern in the ongoing tour, it seems that any choice would do little to help India's cause in its current predicament.
