London, Aug 13: It is official now. England are the best Test team in the planet and if the results so far are anything to go by then, India is probably worse off than minnows Bangladesh. In yet another clinical performance by the English seamers, Indian batsmen just continued with their horror run and perished without any fight.
For the record, England beat India by runs. And had it not been for the heroics of Praveen Kumar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the margin could well have been way over the embarrassment they faced at Trent Bridge.
The post-launch session gave Indian fans something to cheer about as Praveen Kumar took the fight to the England bowlers and in the company of skipper M S Dhoni sent them on a leather hunt. He was particularly harsh on Graeme Swann and along with Dhoni took him for such a special treatment that at one stage before Praveen"s dismissal, his figure read four overs for 55 runs.
Dhoni on the other hand dispelled all notions about Anderson being the best fast bowler in contemporary cricket and in the manner could have imparted a few lessons to his more illustrious seniors on how to treat the English bowler. Anderson was made to look like a club bowler as the Indian skipper, pulled, cut and drove him with non-chalance.
And once Broad removed Praveen Kumar, the Indian loss was just a matter of time. Praveen scored a brilliant 18-ball 40 that was laced with five boundaries and three sixes. Ishant Sharma did not last long and was trapped LBW for 0 by Stuart Broad.
Sreesanth, then hung in for some time before being caught by Pietersen of Bresnan for 5. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 74 as India lost the match by an innings and 242 runs. The loss ensured that their reign as the World"s Number one Test team came to an end. England have now won the series 3-0 with another match to go.
