Bangalore, Aug 22: In a further set-back to the already demoralised Indian cricket team, opening batsman Virender Sehwag and fast bowler Ishant Sharma have been ruled out of the T20 and ODI leg of the ongoing England tour.
Jharkhand's pace bowling sensation Varun Aaron and Mumbai's Ajinkya Rahane have been called up to replace the injured duo.
While Sehwag, has reportedly not fully recovered from his shoulder surgery, Ishant Sharma is being said to have a ligament tear. A BCCI release said that Ishant has responded well to treatment on his ligament "but will need to undergo a course of intensive rehabilitation and training to prevent recurrence of the pain in his left ankle."
Aaron, who is being touted as the next big Indian hope in fast bowling, is expected to be drafted straight into the playing XI. Touted as India's fastest bowlers in contemporary times, Aaron is famous for having bowled a delivery at 153 kph in a domestic tournament.
He was even seen in the IPL as consistently hitting the higher 140s in the speed gun. If he lives upto the expectations, then India might well be right in drafting him into the ODI squad as Ishant's replacement.
As for Ajinkya Rahane, the Mumbai batsman has been impressing one and all with his impressive array of stroke-play and has been a consistent performer for his domestic side.
