London, Aug 29: India take on English county side Leicestershire in their last practice match before the upcoming T20 and ODI series. Considering the fact, that they have been so badly humiliated in the recently concluded Test series, it won't be a surprise if India field the players who are most likely to be in the starting XI of their squad.
There is still no clear report about Gautam Gambhir's recovery from the Concussion he suffered during the fourth and final Test against England at the Oval. In case, he is still deemed unfit to take the field, India may persist with Parthiv Patel ahead of Ajinkya Rahane, simply because other than being a good batsman with experience of the English conditions, he can also serve as the wicket-keeper of the side if skipper M S Dhoni decides to give his keeping gloves a break.
Meanwhile, in the bowling department, Varun Aaron is likely to get a chance ahead of Munaf Patel, to check his preparedness for the international assignment. In the two other practice matches, Munaf has so far been far from impressive while R P Singh it seems is fast discovering his mojo as he been the highest wicket-taker for India in the matches against Sussex and Kent.
While Amit Mishra and R Ashwin have both been on equal terms in the two practice matches, it seems that two might also get a chance for a final decision by the team-management on whom to persist with in the series ahead.
Coming back to batting again, Sachin Tendulkar, may also be back in the side for one last match-practice before the ODI series. Dravid may also feature in the match to get himself enough practice before the T20 game against England on Aug 31 followed by the ODI series.
