New Delhi, Oct 4: Zaheer Khan who has been left out of the Indian squad due to injury has defended fellow team-mate off- spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was recently dropped from the Indian one-day team for the upcoming series against England, Zaheer Khan has said Singh had done great things for the country and a bowler of his calibre would come back stronger.
"Harbhajan was a champion bowler and he would definitely fight back for his place in the team," he told the media after receiving Arjuna Award.
"We all know that Harbhajan has done great things for the country and me as a fellow cricketer played alongside him, I am sure that he is going to be back. He is too good a bowler to be left out and I am sure the talent he has, he is going to be back. Personally (I have) gone through up's and downs in my career and I am sure that Harbhajan has also got that character, that fire in him to come back stronger than ever," Khan added.
He also informed that he was recovering well from his hamstring injury and had now entered the second phase of his rehabilitation process.
"I have started my training, so my second phase of rehab has started. It's going to be a while for sure, I need to build strength in my ankle again and work my way up slowly to bowling 100 percent. I intend to hopefully play some club games or first-class games depending on how my foot is holding," Khan added.
