Margao, Oct 7: The 3rd edition of the premium cricket tournament, Goa Super Sixes, got underway at the Taj Exotica on Friday.
The tournament hosted by Percept, a sports management firm, will end on October 10 and during this period defending champion Pinc Panthers, New Indians, Royal Marathas, Provogue Pashas, Veling Vikings, Zee Zorros, MSG Warriors and Bombay Bombers will battle it out for the coveted title.
Goa Super Sixes 2011 will witness a host of celebrities and legends playing alongside leading corporates.
Among those participating are Mohinder Amarnath (Bombay Bombers), Anshuman Gaekwad (New India), Kiran More (Pinc Panthers), Vinod Kambli (Provogue Pashas), Rohan Gavaskar (MSG Warrior), Atul Wassan (Veling Vikings), Dilip Vengsarkar (Royal Marathas) and Nilesh Kulkarni (Zee Zorros).
Addressing a press conference, the vice-chairman and managing director of Percept Limited, Harindra Singh said that Goa Super Sixes has become bigger and better.
"The tournament has become bigger and better and in its third season we have two international teams joining in also," Singh said.
"Currently the three-day format limits the participation to only eight teams, but seeing the growing popularity, we plan to change the format to accommodate more teams from India and abroad," he added.
Launched in 2009, Goa Super Sixes is India's only annual corporate cricket tournament.
