TN top table; Andhra beat Karnataka

Chennai, Oct 21: Andhra defeated Karnataka by 36 runs while Tamil Nadu finished top of the points table by virtue of net runrate after beating Hyderabad by 63 runs in the South Zone T-20 cricket match for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy here today.

Tamil Nadu secured 16 points from four matches. The hosts along with Karnataka had 16 points and have qualified for the T-20 knockout from South Zone.

Electing to bat, Tamil Nadu scored 161-5 with S Aniruda 35 (29b) and M Vijay 33 (34b) being the top scorers.

In reply, Hyderbad were able to muster only 98 losing eight wickets. DB Ravi Teja was the top-scorer with 18 (24b).

V Yo Mahesh's three for six and Sunny Gupta 2-15 were the main wicket-takers for Tamil Nadu.

In another match, Andhra, put into bat, made 149-7 in 20 overs against Karnataka. Y Gnaneswara Rao with 51 (31b) and KJ Rakesh 30 (26b) put on 56 runs in 39 balls for third wicket.

NC Aiyappa 2-17 and KP Appanna 2-22 were the chief wicket-takers.

In reply, Karnataka were bundled out for 113 in 15.4 Overs with only skipper Robin Uthappa offering resistance with a hard-hitting 64 (20b). SK Noushad (3/10) and G Elaizar (2/7) and GV Sarath Babu (2/22) were the successful bowlers.

In another match, Kerala electing to bat made 138-6 with Raiphi Vincent Gomez hammering 52 (42b) and Sachin Baby 30 (27b). P Prasanth chipped in with 20 not out (8b). Sherbahadur Yadav and Vidyadhar Kamat bagged 2/3 and 2/23 respectively.

Abhishek Raut top scored with 40 (42b) as Goa was bundled out for 114 in 19.3 overs with Prasanth grabbing 3/22 including a hat-trick. K R Sreejith supported him with 2/23.
