Goa escape defeat against JK

Goa, Oct 24: Opener Suraj Dongre scored a half- century as hosts Goa escaped defeat against Jammu & Kashmir in the U-22 C K Nayudu four-day cricket match at PCA ground Porvorim.

Needing 273 runs for an outright win after JK declared their second innings at 296 for nine in 83 overs, Goa's slumped from 164-4 to 165 for 8 in 83 overs when stumps were drawn on the last day.

Sharma did most of the damage in the mandatory overs with bowling figures of 3-3-0-4. He took 4-24. Thanks to opener Suraj Dongre who scored a superb 66 in 131 balls with seven hits to the fence, the hosts managed to sneak out a draw.

Earlier, resuming overnight score of 252 for 6, J&K declared their second innings on 294 for 9. For Goa, Vitthal Gauns was the most successful bowler claiming 3-45.
