Ravi Rampaul scored 86 runs from 66 balls to help Windies regain their momentum after losing quick wickets. Windies were 170/9 during the 36th over as Indian pacers did most of the damage while spinners followed. Opener Lendl Simmons showed stability in the middle scoring 78 but all eyes were on Rampaul who smashed six sixes and six fours.
Indian pacers destroyed the Windies batting line-up early on as wickets tumbled down one after the other. The only hope for Windies to score a decent target was if Lendl Smimons held his ground. Windies were shattered after Simmons dismissal leaving them with a low total of 170/9.
Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons looked to build a strong partnership putting up 56 runs for the 6th wicket. Kieron Pollard (35) hit two back-to-back sixes off Ashwin's bowling, but while defending the next delivery the ball lobs off the pad slightly clipping the bat for a diving catch to Parthiv Patel.
Ravindra Jadeja struck soon after by trapping skipper Darren Sammy(2) lbw and Andre Russell(11) was bowled.
Pacers Umesh Yadav and Vinay Kumar dismissed Windies top order as Yadav took three wickets while Vinay Kumar claimed two wickets in a single maiden over as Darren Bravo's (13) mistimed shot lofted to mid-on for a simple catch to R Ashwin while Danza Hyatt (0) gets a thin egde to Parthiv Patel behind the stumps.
Umesh Yadav continued destroying the Windies batting line-up claiming his third wicket of Denesh Ramdin (2). Ramdin hits a wide ball, failing to keep it low for easy catch to R jadeja at backward point.
Umesh Yadav struck early to dismiss opener Adrian Barath and later Marlon Samuels. An out-swinger from Umesh Yadav to Adrian Barath (0) managed to get a thick edge to Parthiv Patel behind the stumps. A leading edge from Marlon Samuels(4) went low towards Suresh Raina at third slip for an excellent catch.
Ravi Rampaul's inclusion proved crucial for West Indies in the batting department with an unbeaten 86 runs to help Windies cruise to 269/9 in the second ODI.
Earlier, Indian captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and decided to field against West Indies. However, a mild drizzle had delayed the toss and the covers were brought on, but was later removed.
