Halandhar Das named captain again

Bhubaneswar, Dec 5: After a brief break, promising batsman and wicket-keeper Haladhar Das was once again named captain of Odisha's Ranji Trophy squad for the match against Karnataka starting from Tuesday.

Das took over the 15-member Ranji Team's charge by replacing Natraj Behera, who sustained rib injury during net practice. Behera was advised by doctors to take rest for at least 10 days, a release of Orissa Cricket Association said.

The match against Karnataka will be played at the Railway Stadium on Tuesday. OCA had recently lifted ban on Das and included him in the state Ranji squad on November 24. He had been dropped from the team on disciplinary ground last month on the eve of Odisha's match against Punjab at Mohali.

Subit Biswal has been included in the team in place of Behera, said OCA secretary Asirbad Behera. Odisha are in the group A that includes defending champions Rajasthan, Mumbai, Karnataka, Saurashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Railways.

Odisha Team: Haldhar Das (WK-Captain), Paresh Patel, Bikash Swarup Pati, Niranjan Behera, Biplab Samantaraya (vice-captain), Subit Biswal, Govind Podder, Abhilash Mallik, Subhrajit Sahoo (wk), Lagnajeet Samal, Basanta Mohanty, Alok Mangaraj, Deepak Behera, Santosh Jena and Jayant Behera.
