Chennai, Dec 9: Varun Aaron's injury puts Vinay Kumar on board for the Australia tour starting later this month. Karnataka speedster Vinay Kumar, has been chosen as Aaron's replacement for the upcoming tour of Australia after Varun Aaron's injury was detected on Thursday evening making him unavailable for the tour.
Vinay Kumar was the first choice after Aaron's injury ruled him out of the series against Australia, as he has a good domestic season and a couple of good performances to his credit in recent times.
The 27 year old bowler, though has been on the sidelines of the limited overs side for the past 18 months, but has never had a chance to play Tests so far.
Though Vinay was not picked for the World cup, Davanagere express has been one of the most experienced fast bowlers in the team playing the current series against West Indies next to Irfan Pathan, who was included for the last two one-dayers against West Indies.
Upcoming series against Australia will witness two players Vinay Kumar and Rohit Sharma making their debut later this month.
Earlier, Praveen Kumar was ruled out of the tour down under due to an injury which gave a berth to Abhimanyu Mithun, another fast bowler from the state to represent the national side.
