We are out to unsettle India: Ryan Broad

Canberra, Dec 14: Cricket Australia Chairman's XI captain Ryan Broad said that his side would look to unsettle the star-studded Indians in the first warm-up game on Thursday to make their life difficult in their preparations for the first Test starting on December 26.

The Queensland opening batsman was only called into the team yesterday as a late replacement for Test hopeful Ed Cowan, who has been drafted into the other CA Chairman's XI squad for the second warm-up game starting here on Monday.

"I'm not sure how the Indians are going to want to play it but we're definitely going to play a good aggressive and positive brand of cricket," said Broad.

"If we win the toss we'll probably look to have a bat and bat as long as possible and really set the tone of the match. If we can get out there and put on a good display with the bat and make sure they're toiling out there in the hot sun, I think that can only benefit the Test team in a few weeks," he said.

"Any way we can help out and make (the Australian Test team's) job a little bit easier, we'll be trying to press that advantage home," he added.

It's unknown yet whether India will roll out a star-studded team for the two-day first warm-up match starting tomorrow.

They may also think of fielding the full-strength side in the second tour game, a three-day affair, starting Monday against the other CA Chairman's XI side which will have Australian players like David Warner, Usman Khawaja and Phil Hughes.

Broad, 29, said he and his young team-mates are looking forward to an opportunity to impress against quality opposition.

"This is almost a free hit. You're playing against some fantastic players from India, some of the best in the world and you can just go out and have fun," he said.
