Melbourne, Dec 26: The comeback man, Zaheer Khan has been the connoisseur of all eyes having grabbed two wickets on Day 1 showing the world that he's back with a bang and also due to his latest hair-do. While some people feel its similar to Rajnikanth in the blockbuster movie Sivaji, others feel its a cool hair-do that makes it difficult for people to take eyes off him! Apart from the hair-do, his bowling too was exceptional on Day 1. Sharing the new ball with Ishant Sharma, the duo disturbed the Aussie openers as they tried to play off the first session and avoided risky shots.
A beautiful delivery to dismiss Clarke, showed the world that Zaheer is back with a bang. He also proved that he 's one of the best old ball bowlers across the globe, as he was working on a plan here on Day 1. The ball fooled Clarke as it kept coming in from wider of the stumps, which was mistook by Clarke and an inside edge rattled his stumps. That's the beauty of Zaheer's bowling.
The next delivery was quite brute as it bounded up from a length and snorted past Hussey who was trying to get out of harm's way, while the ball brushed his sleeve and went into Dhoni's gloves. Guess, there was no edge, but there was no UDRS too. As soon as India appealed, umpire Erasmus lifted his finger to signal out! That was the end of Hussey's innings, who's stint at the crease did not last more than a minute.
Though the dismissal wasn't satisfying, Zaheer deserves a lot of appreciation for working out the plan well. He has definitely prepared well for this much awaited tour after he was down with an injury during the England tour.
This is indeed a great start to one of the hardest tour. Zaheer has impressed and has been successful on Day One with figures of 23-5-49-2, giving away 2.13 runs per over. More is expected from Zaheer on Day 2 as he has a very good chance of tapering the tail. Now, the stage is set for the comeback man to get rewarded in Australia.
