Adelaide, Jan 16: Skipper Michael Clarke backs the Australian spinner Nathan Lyon, as he is all set to play in the last Test of the four match series against India at Adelaide starting on January 24, 2012.
Aiming for a whitewash, Aussie skipper was keen on playing four pacers at Perth, as Team India struggled to tackle fast bowlers and were bundled out for 161 and 171 in both the innings as the hosts wrapped up with an innings and 37 runs within 3 days of play.
After taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series, Aussies plan to go for 3 quicks and a rookie. According to reports, paceman Mitchell Starc who replaced Pattinson in the third Test will be axed, and Nathan Lyon is set to fill the lone bowlers' slot.
Due to the recent wins and moreover with the fact that they have won the Perth Test within two and a half days, while the Sydney Test too got over well ahead of the stipulated time, Clarke says, his team is relatively fresh to take on India in Adelaide.
“We haven''t achieved much at this stage. We should be very proud, don''t get me wrong, to beat the No. 2 ranked Test team in this series. But we''ve got a lot of work to do before we''ll be satisfied. In Adelaide, you''ll see that," Clarke said.
The Aussie skipper also vowed that his team will continue to stranglehold India and aim for a 4-0 series whitewash.
