Adelaide, Jan 24: Australia's Ricky Ponting completed 13,000 Test runs during the first day of the India-Australia Test at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.

The former Australian captain is the third man to do so after India's Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
Tendulkar leads the list of most run getters in Tests with 15,432 with Dravid on 13,262. Both Tendulkar and Dravid are playing in this Test.
Ponting is playing in his 162nd match and was unbeaten on 91 at the tea interval on the opening day.
Ponting, 37, made his Test debut against West Indies in Perth in December, 1995.
The right-hander from Tasmania reached the milestone in his 275th innings when he reached 81 scoring a single to deep square leg off Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ponting has scored 40 Test hundreds with a highest of 257 and completed his 61st half century in Adelaide. He was looking in fine form and heading towards another ton in the four-match series.
Ponting has also featured in 370 ODIs with 13,686 runs at an average of 42.63. He is second in the all-time ODI scorers list headed by Tendulkar (18,111).
