Adelaide, Jan 27: Former Aussie captain to sue Indian software firm for using his face in a mobile phone application without acquiring his permission.
Ponting who scored a double ton in the first innings and followed it up with an unbeaten 60 in the second at Adelaide, was not aware of that application, using his face.
Indian firm AHI Infotech has used Ponting's face in a 99-cent iPhone application 'Face Guess Cricket'. The application asks users to identify the cricketer's face by providing the close-ups of the face.
It is learnt that earlier, the firm has used faces of the greats Glenn Mc Grath, Shane Warne and Steve Waugh without taking their permission for the same application AHI Infotech's website also has a number of iPhone game applications similar to 'Face Guess Cricket', which inlcude faces of Bollywood artists, Tennis stars and soccer players.
"We weren't aware of it and we'll be issuing action against them straight away for the use of his intellectual property," Ponting's manager James Henderson was quoted as saying by the Herald Sun.
