Brisbane, Feb 19: Shane Watson is expected to be back soon to bolster Australian batting in the ongoing tri-series featuring the hosts, India and Sri Lanka.
The 30-year-old all-rounder, who missed the entire Test series following a hamstring injury which ruled him out of action since November, has recovered earlier than expected, and a decision on his fitness will be taken in 24 hours, according to Australia's coach Mickey Arthur.
"We'll sit down and discuss after (ODI) game (against India) what to do with Shane. We wanted to see Shane play some cricket," said Arthur.
"If he can come through a Shield game really well, then we'll take that point to the discussion table on Monday. We want to see a fit and firing Shane Watson," he added.
