Sydney, Feb 25: Peter Forrest, who scored his first international hundred in the tri series clash against Sri Lanka on Friday is likely to be selected in the Australian squad for the West Indies tour.
In-form Forrest replaced axed Ricky Ponting in the number three spot to score a brilliant 104 off 138 balls against Sri Lanka on Friday.
The Australian selectors had Forrest in mind for the West Indies tour, but his brilliant knock could see him replacing the likes of veteran batsman Ricky Ponting.
In four games Forrest has scored 66,16,52,104, which is the best start by an Australian one-day batsman in as many matches. it was also the first century scored by an Australian in the series, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
After a bad start, Australia recovered with Forrest and captain Michael Clarke putting up a partnership of 154 to guide the team for a total of 280/6 from 50 overs.
