New Delhi, Mar 1: Delhi Daredevils have acquired New Zealand captain Ross Taylor from Rajasthan Royals. Daredevils have also signed England batsman Kevin Pietersen from Deccan Charges in the first transfer window before the IPL auction. Taylor becomes the second batsman Daredeviles have signed for an undisclosed fee.
Rajasthan Royals bought Taylor for a fee of $1 million in the 2011 IPL auction and played only one season for them. Taylor played 11 innings last season with an average of 36.20 and a strike rate of 119.07. Taylor remained unbeaten in only one of six innings scoring 47. taylor is known for scoring quick runs and big hits to ensure a commanding total or a successful run-chase.
Taylor is out of action with a calf strain which he picked during the second day of the only Test against Zimbabwe in Napier in January. He missed the limited-overs matches against South Africa but is expected to return for the first Test that begins on March 7.
Taylor started his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bangalore, but he wasn't retained ahead of last year's auction. He later signed for Deccan Charges in 2011. The trading window for the IPL 2012 shuts at midnight tonight.
