Cairns' files libel suit against Modi

New Delhi, Mar 5: Former New Zealand all rounder Chris Cairns has filed a libel case against former IPL Commissioner, as a hearing is due at the London High Court on Monday.

Lalit Modi, had alleged that he had barred Chris Cairns from participating in the mega tournament due to 'his past record in match-fixing' on his Twitter profile in 2010.

According to New Zealand media reports, all-rounder Chris Cairns had filed a libel suit against the sacked IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi which will witness its first hearing on March 5, 2012 at the London High Court.

Leading barrister Andrew Caldecott will represent Cairns, while the case will be heard by Justice Sir David Eady who presided over another high-profile libel and privacy actions that involved world motorsport boss Max Mosley and renowned golfer Tiger Woods.
