Dhaka, Mar 16: Pakistan skipper Misbah ul Haq has said that his magnificent half century knock against Sri Lanka on Thursday has boosted his confidence after struggling to score runs during the ODI series against England.
"This knock was an important one for me. This will help me get my confidence back as the last England series wasn't a good one for me," an elated Misbah said after his team thrashed Sri Lanka by six wickets on Thursday.
Though the team has won two matches in the Asia Cup to book their berth in the finals, skipper Misbah feels the team should perform consistently in order to win the tournament.
"We have to be more consistent as a batting unit. The bowling has always kept us in the hunt. Especially, if you have a world class bowler like Saeed Ajmal in your team, its a big edge."
Misbah heaped praise on the talented spinner Aizaz Cheema, who returned with figures of 4/43 after being hammered in his first two overs against Sri Lanka in the third match of the Asia Cup on Thursday.
"I kept on telling Cheema that you have to aggressive as that's your main weapon. The only way to contain batsmen is to bowl fast and get wickets."
Further Misbah praised the talented batsman Umar Akmal who scored 77 runs and was also involved in a crucial 152-run fourth wicket partnership. He also said that, he had told Akmal that if he plays normally, runs will flow automatically and he need not worry about it.
