Dhaka, Mar 16: Pakistan's fast bowler Aizaz Cheema, was adjudged the man of the match for his impressive performance with the ball as he picked up 4 wickets for 43 against Sri Lanka, to give Pakistan an edge as they thrashed the Islanders by four wickets comprehensively at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
Cheema admitted that he was under severe pressure after being initially hit for runs in the first two overs, but felt encouraging words from his skipper and Afridi did the trick as he picked up four wickets.
"I was under a lot of pressure but the captain told me not to be defensive. With two new balls used, it remains hard and even if you try slower deliveries, it comes on well. So the idea was to bowl fast throughout. Whenever I got hit, captain, Afridi came up to me and told me to be aggressive, bowl bouncers," Cheema said.
While Lanka skipper Jayawardene gave credit to Pakistan bowlers for their superb effort with the ball as they dismissed Lankans to a paltry 188.
"I thought the Pakistanis bowled really well. They had a much better game than us today. Also we made a lot of mistakes today."
Aizaz Cheema, the talented seamer has grabbed 5 wickets off two matches in the Asia Cup this year, while he has been one of Pakistan's top bowlers as he has got 7 wickets in four matches this calendar year at an average of 25.57.
The 32 year old emerging fast bowler, has impressed everyone with his bowling though he has played only 11 One day internationals so far. With an important match coming up this weekend, it remains to be seen how Indian batsmen face Cheema and the most talented Ajmal and his 'teesra'.
