Pune Warriors target Oz keeper Wade

Sydney, Mar 17: Australian wicket-keeper Matthew Wade has become a potential target for Indian Premier League franchise Pune Warriors after luring Australia skipper Michael Clarke.

The Victorian has been released by Delhi Daredevils as part of their plan to free players for their big-money spending plan. Wade is left with an open option to join any IPL team.

The Warriors' are in the hunt for a wicket-keeper after Australian Tim Paine was released due to a long term finger injury.

For now, an inexperienced 23-year old Eklayva Dwivedi is the only specialist wicket-keeper for the Warriors.

The two-month break for Australia right after the West Indies tour will give players an opportunity to feature in the second half of the IPL season.

Callum Ferguson, James Hopes and Steve Smith are the other three Australians who have already signed up with the Warriors, as also Wades Melbourne Stars teammate Luke Wright.
