Bangalore, Mar 21: Rahul Dravid, who retired from international cricket on March 9, will be honoured for his contribution to India and Karnataka cricket, by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday night.
"The office bearers and the managing committee members of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) have proposed to honour Mr. Rahul Dravid in a befitting manner by organising a warm felicitation function at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 21, Wednesday," KSCA Secretary Javagal Srinath said.
Dravid, the second highest run-getter behind Sachin Tendulkar in Tests, called it a day from Test and first class cricket on March 9. "The Wall" played for India for more than 15 years at the highest level.
M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is the venue where Dravid started his cricketing journey, will be the perfect setting to honour this stalwart of Indian cricket.
BCCI has also announced that Dravid will be honoured in Mumbai on March 27.
KSCA is now headed by Dravid's team-mates Anil Kumble and Srinath. Kumble is the President of KSCA while Srinath serves as the secretary.
Few of Dravid's other team-mates in Karnataka and Indian team, like Venkatesh Prasad and Vijay Bharadwaj are also part of the KSCA administration.
It will be a great evening at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday where former Indian cricketers, hailing from Karnataka are also expected to attend this event.
Former India Test batsman G.R. Viswanatah is expected to grace the occasion along with some of the former Karnataka players.
It is a fitting tribute for Dravid that the KSCA has decided to honour one of the legends of the game on the ground where he began his illustrious journey.
