New Delhi, Mar 21: British-Indian artist Sacha Jafri's yet another master piece that portrayed Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who scored his 100th international ton, has fetched $750,000.
Jafri has said he will donate the money to MS Dhoni Foundation that provides food, water and shelter to the poor and the needy.
"I am delighted by this sale and will be donating the money to the MS Dhoni Foundation which provides food, water and shelter to some of the poorest children in India," Jafri told Dubai's English newspaper "Khaleej Times".
The painting also has handprints of 40 world famous cricketers including MS Dhoni, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid, Wasim Akram, Shahid Afridi, Courtney Walsh and Andrew Strauss.
Jafri has used a willow of a dozen cricket bats signed by the 12 top run scorers of all time and six cricket balls signed by the top six wicket-takers of all time, uniquely sewn into the canvas to make the frame of the masterpiece.
This extraordinary painting, centered around an image of Tendulkar’s home ground in Mumbai under an Indian sun-set, celebrates images from the great Tendulkar’s unprecedented career, as well as the poignant pitches, moments, matches, World Cups, milestones, records broken, rivalries, headlines and victories throughout record-breaking 20-year career and even includes all the headlines and newspaper clippings collected over the last two decades pasted onto the first layer of the canvas by the artist.
