Karachi, Mar 24: Pakistan's all-rounder Shahid Afridi has apologized after he had punched a fan in the face on Friday for crushing his three year old daughter who was there in the airport to welcome him, while the fan was keen on getting the cricketer's autograph.
Afridi has told a leading TV news channel Geo News, that he could not control his temper as the fan who was seeking his autograph had almost crushed his three year old daughter, which provoked him to punch the fan on his face after his arrival at Karachi on Friday.
Fans thronged the airport to get a glimpse of the star and take his autograph after the team emerged victorious claiming the Asia Cup after 12 years, while a fan literally trampled his daugher which did not go well with the cricketer, prompting him to punch the fan on his face.
This clearly showed Afridi was unhappy with the fan following and was looking at running out of the airport as admirers followed him.
"Afridi lost temper when the crowd almost trampled his (Afridi's) daughter. Reckless fans did not ever care about the three-year old girl, who could have been seriously injured in this stampede like situation," said Afridi's brother to Geo News on Friday.
