Kallis fit to play T20 against India

Johannesburg, Mar 29: South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis has been declared fit to play a one-off Twenty20 international against India at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Friday, March 30.

"Jacques' neck has fully recovered," South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee said on Wednesday.

"The scan revealed a small tear, and he should be fit to play."

Kallis, who picked up a neck injury, missed the last Test of South Africa's tour to New Zealand which ended in a draw on Tuesday.

He is one of only four batsmen to have made more than 12,000 runs in Test cricket, at an average of 56.78, and one of only six players to have hit more than 11,000 ODI runs, boasting an average of 45.26.

The veteran all-rounder has also taken 276 Test wickets and 270 scalps in ODI matches.

The one-off T20 international will be played in his honour, money raised from Friday's match will be donated to the Jacques Kallis Foundation, which recognises and develops young cricket talent by awarding scholarships.
