New Delhi, Mar 30: Aslam Goni, the controversial chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has been named as Team Manager of the Indian cricket team for the one off Twenty20 International against South Africa at Johannesburg on Friday.
Goni, left for South Africa on Wednesday for the fund-raising match between India and South Africa.
Surprisingly, his appointment as team manager has come days after he was blamed for a multi-crore financial scam in JKCA. More than 40 of the 62 working committee members of JKCA demanded Goni's resignation.
BCCI is yet to start an inquiry on this regard while a petition was filed on March 13 in Jammu & Kashmir High Court seeking a CBI probe into the multi-crore financial scam.
Avtar Krishan Tickoo and other members of Kashmir Cricket Club had filed the petition in the Jammu & Kashmir High Court seeking a probe and the JKCA lodged a complaint against the treasurer and the general secretary, while police raided the residences of officials in Srinagar, and seized fake bank accounts opened by the officials to divert the funds.
