Mumbai, Apr 2: India's iconic batsman Sachin Tendulkar would be presented with 100 gold coins by Mumbai Cricket Association for completing his historic feat of 100 international centuries during the Asia Cup last month.
The decision to honour the batting maestro with 100 gold coins estimated to be worth Rs 23-25 lakh was taken by MCA's Managing Committee led by Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
"Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh announced at the last committee meeting that he had spoken to Tendulkar requesting him to give a date for the felicitation function and that he has agreed," MCA Joint Secretary Nitin Dalal said on Monday.
"The date has not been fixed yet," Dalal added.
A year long wait ended when Tendulkar scored the elusive 100th ton against Bangladesh during the Asia Cup match on March 16.
The historic ton (114) was Tendulkar's 49th in 463 ODI matches besides scoring 51 in 188 Tests in an illustrious career spreading over two decades.
