Chennai, Apr 3: India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni feels that the past season has been a "mixed one" for them, it has exactly been a year and a day since India were crowned World Champions.
"We had ups and downs. We won the World Cup which was very big for us. After that, we did not do well in England and Australia. It is a big season for us. The last T20 game we played was official last game of the season. We will get the break after the IPL. It was a mixed season for us," Dhoni told the mediapersons in Chennai here on Tuesday.
After a year of disappointment, especially in overseas tours, Dhoni insisted that consistent performance would be key in the coming years.
"We will like to be more consistent wherever we go. It was tough in the sense to play the World Cup at home. Too much of expectations, then you visit the countries where you are supposed to do well and you are hit by injuries. If your batsmen or bowlers are out of form, that also has an impact. This is something every side goes through. In the coming years, we would like to be consistent in whatever format we play," he said.
Dhoni, who will lead IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, will take on Harbhajan Singh's Mumbai Indians on the opening match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday, April 4.
