Kolkata, Apr 6: Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag credited his bowlers, who set the tone for an easy victory over Kolkata Knight Riders on game 2 of the IPL season 5 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Pacer Morne Morkel came out with figures 18 for 3, while fast bowler Umesh Yadav and spinner Roelof van der Merwe claimed two wickets each to restrict the Knight Riders to 97 for nine in the rain-interuppted 12-over-match.
"Boys did very well, bowlers bowled brilliantly after we won the toss. We also fielded very well," Sehwag said after the comprehensive eight-wicket win at the Eden Gardens.
He praised opener Aaron Finch, who scored 30 runs off 27 balls.
"Aaron Finch outscored me, he played very well," Sehwag said.
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir said Morkel and Irfan Pathan, who scored an unbeaten 42 off 20 deliveries, turned out to be the difference between the two sides.
"The way Morne bowled, he bowled some quality stuff. The total we had was a quality total in the end, but they batted well. (Irfan) Pathan was excellent with his batting," he said.
After leading Daredevils to victory, man of the match Irfan Pathan said he is expecting to bowl well in the coming matches.
"I am now looking forward to take more and more wickets with the ball," he said.
