Mohali, Apr 12: Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, who is part of Kings XI Punjab team, is waiting for his Indian visa and the team is missing him, Punjab's captain Adam Gilchrist has said ahead of their match against Pune Warriors in IPL 5 on Thursday night.
Mahmood was bought by Punjab for $200,000 during this year's auction in Bangalore. He is now a British citizen and plays county cricket in England. The 37-year-old had recently played in the Bangladesh Premier League.
"It's up to the government. I believe that he has not yet got his visa," Gilchrist said.
"When we picked him at the auction, we were given to believe that he would be available for all the matches. But that has not happened. He is yet to get his visa. He is a class player and we are missing him," he added.
There is no Pakistan player in IPL 5.
Punjab have already lost their opening two games. England's Stuart Broad, who is part of Punjab squad is also ruled out of current IPL. They will be hoping for Mahmood's arrival at the earliest.
Mahmood has played 21 Tests and 143 One Day Internationals for Pakistan.
