Mohali, Apr 12: Pune Warriors captain Sourav Ganguly has one simple advice to his team-mates. “Keep playing freely”. The former India captain will lead his troops on Thursday night against Kings XI Punjab here at the PCA Stadium.
"There are going to be good and bad phases. You just have to keep doing well. I tell them (players) to keep playing freely. I also tell them that they have to be on top of their batting, bowling and fielding because every thing counts," Ganguly said ahead of their game in IPL 5.
"I tell them that there will be failures in this format, in every format for that matter and more so in this format. There is no time to settle down and most important thing is to keep playing well".
Pune have started off positively, winning both their games so far. First, they conquered the Mumbai Indians on their turf and in Pune's new home ground, Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, they defeated Kings XI Punjab.
Comparing Twenty20 format to Tests and One Day Internationals, Ganguly said: "In T20, you don't have much time to come back. If you are not on the button for 20-40 overs, you are gone."
The 39-year-old said that in a Test, teams can recover from a bad session or a bad day and also in ODIs they can come back, but it was tough in T20.
"But in T20, mere 15 minutes can change the game and take it away from you."
