Gurgaon, Apr 12: England's batsman Kevin Pietersen met up with India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh at the latter's residence here in Gurgaon on Thursday.
Yuvraj returned to India on Monday after treatment for cancer in the US. Pietersen, after meeting Yuvraj at his place, tweeted (@kevinpp24) on Thusday afternoon: "Great to hook up with the pie chucker" and posted a picture on his twitter account of the two.
Pietersen, during the 2008 India-England Test series in India, called Yuvraj a "pie chucker" ridiculing his bowling abilities. But since then, Pietersen and Yuvraj have been good friends.
Currently playing for Delhi Daredevils in IPL 5, Pietersen had said he would meet Yuvraj and he has done the same today. He joined the Delhi team after the England-Sri Lanka Test series in Sri Lanka. He and Mahela Jayawardene were instrumental in taking Delhi to victory over Chennai Super Kings at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Tuesday.
Few days back, Pietersen praised Yuvraj for his fighting abilities and said he too will personally meet him this week.
"I was lucky enough to speak to Yuvraj last night before his return from London. I plan to meet him this week," Pietersen said.
"As a sportsperson our job is to accommodate and follow our fellow cricketers in their difficult times.
"Yuvraj is a fighter and he will fight through this period also," the English batsman added.
Yuvraj spoke to the media on Wednesday and explained his tough battle against cancer. He was diagnosed with a rarer germ-cell cancer between his lungs.
"Cancer has taught me a lot of things. May be it is the best thing that has happened to me, I can't say right now but may be some years down the line, I would realise. When I was taking chemotherapy, there were a lot of elderly patients, and that would inspire me. I thought, if they can be cured, why can't I be," he said
