When Mumbai pitch was changed

Kolkata, Apr 13: Rajsthan Royals' wicketkeeper-batsman Shreevats Goswami has criticised the Wankhede Stadium's ground staff for changing the pitch for their game against Mumbai Indians at the last minute without informing the Rajasthan team.

Rajasthan and Mumbai played at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday and the Rahul Dravid-led team lost the match by 27 runs, chasing 198.

Dravid was also surprised to know the change of wicket at the last minute. After the toss, he said: “I thought we were played on that track (pointing to the adjacent surface).”

“They changed the wicket (at the last moment) without informing us,” Goswami told reporters here ahead of their match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday night.

The left-hander Goswami said that the ground stuff were rolling a different wicket. “We were told that wicket would be used for the match”. But before the match the 22-yard strip was changed.

“Rahul bhai (Dravid) opted to bowl without knowing that a different surface would be used,” Goswami said.

Dravid sent Mumbai bat and was left chasing a big target. Rajasthan bowlers were hammered all over the ground by Kieron Pollard and Ambati Rayudu. However, Owais Shah too got into the big scoring act but could not take Rajasthan home.
