Mike Horn is motivating Mumbai Indians

Mumbai, Apr 14: South Africa-born adventurer, explorer and motivational speaker Mike Horn, who had a role in motivating the Indian team to 2011 World Cup glory, is back in India. This time, he is with the Mumbai Indians for IPL 5.

During every IPL match of Harbhajan Singh-led side, Horn can be seen in the dugout. He arrived in Mumbai much before the start of the season and is now guiding the team.

Horn was first seen in the country when India had a pre-World Cup camp in Bangalore in February, 2011. His motivational talks were helpful to the team, as endorsed by Sachin Tendulkar, captain MS Dhoni and other players. After the that he was with the Indian team again during World Cup semi-final and final.

“I wanted to thank Mike Horn. The sessions with him were of immense help,” Tendulkar said after World Cup triumph.

It was then India coach Gary Kirsten, who had requested Horn to hold sessions with the players. Kirsten and Horn are good friends.

“We have amazing talent in our team this year! with a lot of depth in players. Its going to be an exciting season. I'm happy to be part of the Mumbai Indians,” Horn tweeted recently.

About his role with Mumbai, he said: “Build a winning team out of 32 International sport personalities! That is my job description for the Mumbai Indian cricket team. Everyday I will give them Ingredients to reach their goal.”

“If you surely know where you heading to, only then can you go where others cannot!”

During the World Cup, Dhoni had this to say about Horn. “He is a great guy to be with, I don't think most of the Indians know about him and what he has done,” Dhoni had said.

In 2000, Horn completed a solo journey around the equator without motor transport. And in October 2004 he completed a two-year 3 month solo circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle - by boat, kayak, ski kite and on foot.

His most toughest and unimaginable feat was in 2006, when he and Norwegian explorer Borge Ousland, became the first men to travel without dog or motorised transport to the North Pole during the permanent darkness of the Arctic months.

Horn has shown what a human can achieve. And as he shares his experiences with the Mumbai Indians players, they are sure to be motivated and aim for high goals, one on top of the list, is to win IPL 5.
