Home matches crucial for KKR: Akram

Kolkata, Apr 15: Having won two consecutive games, Kolkata Knight Riders aim to carry their winning momentum and take maximum advantage of their remaining six home matches in the ongoing IPL season.

The Eden Gardens wicket proved difficult for visitors Rajasthan Royals as Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan struck early to restrict them to a low score of 131. Kolkata managed to win it by five-wicket with four balls to spare.

Despite the nervy start, thrashed in their opening game by Delhi Daredevils and losing to Royals away from home, the Knight Riders finally registered their first win against Royal Challengers Bangalore, winning it comfortably by 42 runs.

Knight Riders bowling consultant Wasim Akram said it was necessary to get maximum points from their remainder of the home matches.

"It's still a long way to go (with 13 matches remaining), but we have to use the home advantage," Akram told reporters during a promotional programme.

Akram feels despite the shaky start, the Knight Riders have clicked at the right time.

"It's a good turn around for us after two losses to start with. Mentally, we are in a strong position. I think we are peaking at the right time," said Akram.
