Mumbai, Apr 15: Veteran Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday received throwdowns from Mumbai Indians video analyst, with a glimpse of hope of returning to action ahead of the team's next encounter against Delhi Daredevils on Monday, April 16.
The batting maestro missed Mumbai's previous three matches after suffering a finger injury while playing a delivery off Doug Bollinger during the season's opener against Chennai super Kings on April 4.
Opener Tendulkar receiving throwdowns from Dhananjay for 45 minutes, was good news for Mumbai Indians, missing the senior batsman's presence at the top of the batting order.
Mumbai Indians have tried out Ambati Rayudu and T Suman in Tendulkar's absence, to partner Richard Levi upfront, but without much success.
"He had started gym sessions yesterday at the BKC ground but did not do any batting practice. He has started practising only today," a team source informed.
Tendulkar missed the net session after facing the throwdowns, but is expected to do so on Sunday.
Shaun Pollock, who is the team mentor and coach, said that Tendulkar would be available to play in the match against Delhi Daredevils, a day before their previous match against Rajasthan Royals on April 11.
He missed playing against Royals, which Mumbai won. He was also unable to play against Pune Warriors here and against Deccan Chargers in Vishakapatnam on April 6 and 9 respectively.
