Jaipur, Apr 16: After winning the last two games, Rajasthan Royals definitely start favourites as they take on Kumar Sangakkara's Deccan Chargers at their home ground in Jaipur on Tuesday.
With Ajinkya Rahane, Owais Shah being the backbone of Rajasthan Royals' batting, the team has many match-winners, though only Rahul Dravid is being the most popular player of the team. Local talent has been unearthed to the maximum extent here, giving the domestic league its due by exposing domestic talent.
With a ton and 98 to back him, the orange cap holder Rahane happens to be the pillar of Royals' batting line-up as Owais Shah takes care of the middle-order. Under Rahul Dravid's leadership, the team is motivated to give their best, as it has resulted in their games.
Ashok Menaria and Brad Hodge add strength to the team's batting while bowlers like Siddarth Trivedi, Amit Singh, Pankaj Singh have made it a balanced unit.
After their losses to Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, the team came back strongly as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 59 runs.
On the other hand, Deccan Chargers having lost their home game against Mumbai Indians off the last ball as Rohit Sharma hit a six to seal the victory for Mumbai, would lament on that loss forever, as that was the only match wherein Chargers have played to their potential in the fifth edition of IPL so far.
Having lost both the matches, Chargers would need some motivation to take on the all charged-Royals, as they hope to win all away games since their home venues have turned out to be unlucky for Chargers so far as they have lost 12 matches played at the respective venues.
Chargers' team looks quite good with Cameron White, Kumar Sangakkara, Shikhar Dhawan, J P Duminy, Parthiv Patel and Daniel Christian. The issue is with consistency.
JP Duminy and other main players in the team should fire else the team will depend a lot on bowling as Dale Steyn and Amit Mishra are shouldering the responsibility thoroughly. This has increased their headache as the team needs good bowlers and batsmen to win matches.
Deccan Chargers, hoping to put up a good show against a formidable side led by Rahul Dravid, need to get their basics right as they face a tough opposition at their home ground in Jaipur.
